Luoping Nine Dragons Waterfall Group, a national AAAA grade tourist attraction, is located 22 kilometers north of Luoping County, Yunnan Province. Due to the special geological structure and the millennium erosion of water flow, ten levels of waterfalls with different widths and forms have been formed here, of which the largest level is 112 meters wide and 56 meters high, which is magnificent and spectacular, known as the First Waterfall of Nine Dragons. The Nine Dragons Waterfall Group is known as the "Nine Dragons Ten Waterfalls, the best in the South" because of its many waterfalls and dense attractions and its unique ornamental features, which are beautiful all year round.
The Nine Dragons Waterfalls are named after the Nine Dragons River from which they originate. The river rushes from the mountains behind Baila Mountain and feeds the sons and daughters of various nationalities on the land of Luoping. Jiulong Waterfall is the most famous waterfall group on the Jiulong River, which the local Buyi people have always called "Big Stacked Water", and people used to call it "Jiulong Waterfall". The size of ten waterfalls, or majestic, or steep, or beautiful, or soothing, incomparable beauty. Between the waterfalls shallow and deep pools in a variety of forms, colorful, cracked white waterfall, green jade-like flowing water, layers and layers of ladder-like water table around the waterfall winding down, from different angles of examination will give you a burst of surprise. Between the nine dragons and ten waterfalls, connected by shallow or deep pools, forming a string of pearls reflecting the sun's glory. These waterfalls change endlessly with the change of seasons, and the roaring sound of the waterfalls can be heard for miles away during the abundant water season.
Every year, on the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar and the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar, respectively, is the Bu Yi Festival of songs and water festival. On this day, men, women and children come to the river to sing mountain songs to each other and watch the bamboo rowing competition. In the following three days, young boys and girls who are in love with each other for dozens of miles around hold a grand tour of mountains, songs and friendship activities to establish their love relationship with each other through these activities.
