Tengchong National Cemetery is located 1 km southwest of Tengchong City, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, under the small group of slopes on the banks of the Fushui River. It was built to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the Twentieth Group of the Chinese Expeditionary Army who recaptured Tengchong in 1944.In the summer of 1944, in order to complete the strategic plan of opening the China-Burma Highway, the 20th Group Army of the Chinese Expeditionary Army launched a counter-attack with six divisions against the invading Japanese army that had occupied Tengchong for two years, experiencing more than 80 battles of various sizes and recapturing Tengchong on September 14, wiping out more than 6,000 enemies and killing more than 8,000 of our soldiers, more than 1,000 officers and soldiers of the local armed forces, and 19 soldiers of the Allied Forces (U.S.).National Cemetery was advocated by Li Gen to build, covering an area of more than 80 acres, completed on July 7, 1945, is the earliest established, the most ambitious National Army anti-Japanese martyrs cemetery, in 1996 by the State Council included in the national key cultural relics protection units. On December 2, 2017, it was selected as the "Second Batch of China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage".
