Dongba Valley is located at the foot of Yunnan's Yulong Snow Mountain and adjacent to the ancient city of Lijiang, is one of the famous cultural sites in Yunnan Province. Dongba Valley is famous for its unique Dongba culture. The Dongba script is also known as "the only living hieroglyphic script", and the Dongba scriptures written in the Dongba script are widely spread in China, many European and American countries. The Dongba Valley is mainly inhabited by the Naxi people. The Naxi people retain the characteristics of a female clan. The women go out to work while the men stay home to read or do crafts, so fine handicrafts can be found everywhere in the Dongba Valley. The Dongba Valley is also inhabited by the Lisu, Thalu, Pumi, Mosuo, and Tibetan ethnic groups. Each ethnic group has its own characteristics. The intermingling of these ethnic cultures attracts a large number of visitors.
