Shiyang Ancient Town is located 35 kilometers northwest of Dayao County, with many existing cultural relics and monuments, one provincial key cultural relic protection unit, nine county key cultural relic protection units, is a national AAA-level tourist area, the first batch of three historical and cultural towns named in Yunnan Province, 60 tourist towns, one of the four special tourist towns in Chuxiong Prefecture, is the famous "Salt Capital of Yunnan. Confucius Sacrifice Holy Land". Confucianism culture, salt culture, history culture, Yi culture, Buddhism culture constitute the characteristics of Shiyang ancient town tourism culture. There are 16 administrative villages, 124 natural villages and 240 villagers' groups. The ancient town is in between the cities of Chuxiong, Dali and Panzhihua, and within the medium travel distance of Kunming and Dali. The Confucius Temple in the ancient town has the best-preserved and largest bronze statue of Confucius existing today. In October 2015, it was listed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the National Tourism Administration as the third batch of national demonstration of famous towns and villages with special landscape tourism. In November 2017, Shiyang Town was awarded the fifth national civilized village and town.
